Thank Goodness for Data Recovery 2.3.1

I recently took a family vacation to Texas (San Antonio, Sea World, South Padre Island, The Alamo and The River Walk). To say the least I took a ton of photos (Planning on getting a photo post out soon). I know I have a problem ... all totaled about 4300 pictures taken over a 7 day period. You would think I had my dSLR plastered to my face the whole time. Each night I would download my photos to our Laptop as a back-up. I discover I had one SD card that was empty, but in the confusion of the trip, I really didn't think that much of it.

When I got home and stitched together the list of photos I noticed a big chunk that was missing. It was my detail shots of the Alamo. I started freakin'. As I raced through my thoughts about the trip, I remembered a moment when my battery died in the middle of a shot. And it was at that time I had the SD card that was blank in my camera (I label my cards 1,2,3 etc so that I can keep them in order of the shoot). I remember reading of the possibility that your SD card could get erased if you are shooting on a dieing battery. This must of been the case.

After digging through my laptop for the missing photos with no luck I came to the realization that my SD card #3 was indeed the fried card and my precious shots of the Alamo were lost.

Then Data Recovery 2.3.1 came to the rescue. I did a google search and found this free app and did a scan. Low and behold, there were the shots. I am now in the process of recovering the RAW images and there are showing up in my preview.

I am pretty stoked to say the least. I highly recommend this program.

I attended my first ever Seahawks training camp. They have now moved it to thier new location on the shores of Lake Wahington. It is an awesome scene and for a Hawks freak, it was heaven. I have posted more from this set on my flickr account.
